OSCEai Dementia De-escalation Training Project

Project Details:

The OSCEai Dementia De-escalation Training Project aims to reduce the use of inappropriate antipsychotic mediations in dementia care by using AI simulations to train frontline staff. The focus of these simulations is on improving communication skills between front line care workers and clients with dementia, promoting communication over pharmacological interventions for managing dementia-related behaviours. After each use of the platform, trainees will be given an assessment of their competency in de-escalating situations, with opportunities to redo the simulation until the desired results are achieved.

Using the OSCEai platform, an AI tool designed to enhance healthcare education and practice, several scenarios will be developed by subject matter experts to engage participants with AI-powered dementia patients. Future plans for the development of the platform include developing and integrating culturally diverse avatars and real-time emotional expression mapping.

This project is still in progress. Once the project has been completed, more details will be provided here.
